Reflections on Modern Time
The standardised time, as perceived today, is new to humanity and has no original link to our body or mind. The industrial revolution created a new situation where standardised time was needed. New disciplines were created to train and subdue the body into the new capitalist values of time use. Wandering the streets of Rome, I reflected on how public space was used from the Renaissance up to the modern day to invade the body and mind in a way one cannot escape. The work is audio and visual evidence of how this invasive species was established as a natural organ in our culture as if it was always there.
